★ Short Text
Title: Yuki Doesn’t Want to Join Sports Day
Yuki is a junior high school student in Japan. Every year, her school has a sports day. Most students are excited about the games and cheering. But Yuki feels nervous.
She doesn’t like running in front of many people. Loud sounds and big crowds make her feel stressed. She also has asthma, so she gets tired easily.
Her teacher says, “Everyone must join. It’s a school tradition.” But Yuki talks with her parents and writes a letter to the teacher. She explains her feelings and health condition.
Some classmates say, “That’s not fair! We all have to do it.” Others say, “It’s okay. People are different.”
Now, the teacher thinks about it. Should Yuki be allowed to sit out?
