日本は他国の移民政策について批判できる立場か？
米、ロサンゼルスで、不法移民の取り締まりを巡る抗議デモが続くなか、10日、トランプ大統領の命令により、およそ700人の海兵隊員がロサンゼルスに到着しました。
これに対し、ロサンゼルスのバス市長は会見で、暴力や破壊行為は容認されないとしたうえで、真の解決策は、トランプ政権が行き過ぎた移民の取り締まりをやめることだと強調、トランプ大統領による海兵隊と州兵の利用を阻止するよう裁判所に要請する事態となっています。

さて、アメリカの移民問題（今回のLAの出来事）をきっかけに、日本の中高生たちが、「自分たちの国ではどうか？」と内省できるよう、背景や日本の現状を意識した、英語でのディスカッションテーマ（問い）を設定しました。
そもそも、日本は先進国の中でも移民や難民の受け入れが極めて低い稀な国で、米国や欧州の過激な移民排斥派（例：ネオナチ）の中には、日本を、移民排除国のお手本とする人たちさえいるのです。よって、他国の移民政策についてどうこう言える立場にないことを、まず自覚すべきです。

I think Japan should accept more immigrants in the future.
First, our population is getting smaller and older. Many companies need more workers, especially in nursing and construction. Immigrants can help Japan continue to grow.
Second, if we meet people from different countries, we can learn new ideas, languages, and cultures. This can make Japan more open and international.
Of course, we must prepare support, like language classes and housing. But if we work together, I believe immigrants and Japanese people can live happily.
NO (Japan should not accept more immigrants)
I think Japan should not accept more immigrants now.
Japan is a small country with a unique culture and long history. If we accept many immigrants quickly, it may cause problems, like culture shock or misunderstandings.
Also, Japan is not ready yet. We don’t have enough language support or social systems to help immigrants live well. This may cause stress for both immigrants and Japanese people.
Before accepting more immigrants, we should first improve our systems and society.
