昨日の英作文の記事で紹介した元受講生が書いた英作文で下記のような表現があったので、chatGPTに正しい使い方を聞いたところ、いつも通り、1秒でタイプが始まり、10秒後には終わっていました

First of all, in terms of tariffs, free trade agreements with other countries may mean to collapse domestic industries. In other words, a free trade without any tariffs with other countries can allow other countries to bring foreign goods into the country freely and threaten to the existence of domestic markets.

Secondly, in light of immigrants, due to the increasing number of foreign workers caused by free trades might lead to the unrest of the national employment rate. For example, some European countries are suffering from extra number of immigrants. In other words, they are elements of depriving nationals of their job opportunities.

Finally, in regards of trade imbalance, there may be a possibility that free trade agreements can be an inequality of agreements between other countries. For instance, the country that has stronger economic power is likely to hold other countries’ economic situation, which leads to the imperialism.

3. In regards to (Note: Standard usage is “in regard to” or “with regard to”)
Explanation: This phrase is commonly used, but “in regards of” is a less standard form. “With regard to” or “in regard to” is preferred. It introduces the subject being discussed.

Sample Sentences (for “With regard to”):
・With regard to your request, we will provide an update soon.
・With regard to employee benefits, the policy will remain the same.

4. Regarding
Explanation: This word is a straightforward way to introduce the subject matter or topic and is more concise than “with regard to.” It is often used at the beginning of a sentence.

・The manager has some concerns regarding the project timeline.
・Regarding the budget, we need to make some adjustments.
・There is no new information regarding the event.
・Please reach out if you have questions regarding your benefits.

5. Regarding to (Note:Incorrect Usage)
Explanation: "Regarding to" is not standard and should be avoided. Simply use “regarding” without “to.” This combination is incorrect in English.
