TOPIC：　Has a university degree in the humanities lost its relevance in today’s world?

An intriguing issue to discuss nowadays is whether or not a university degree in the humanities has lost its relevance in today’s world.
Personally I am sure that a university degree in the humanities is adequately relevant in our modern society.
I would like to explain it with three reasons.

First of all, humanity courses in every university have reflected our society into their curriculums.
Thanks to every effort by academics, students can learn the reality of current world more than those in science courses when they graduate.
For example, recently English classes have been taught by English native speakers, considering the unprecedented needs of the society for bilingual individuals.

Secondly, humanity courses provide more opportunities to achieve communication skills.
Obviously, our modern society has required highly communicable people.
Thus, faculties have emphasized liberal arts as crucial subjects to learn more communication abilities through deeper investigation of humanities.

Finally, students in humanity courses can enjoy more balanced campus life.
Compared with the students taking science courses, students in humanity courses have more free time.
This allows students to devote various activities including volunteer works, part time jobs, or travels,
all promoting the connection between the contemporary youth and the real society.

I would like to emphasize again that a university degree in the humanities has not lost its relevance in today’s world due to their curriculum, communication skills, and good effect from free time activities. (235 words)
