茶室 外待合 腰張り張替え

茶室の外待合の腰張りの張替えを承りました。

久しぶりの出仕事です。
こうした機会も少なくなってきたなかで、貴重なお仕事をいただけたことに感謝しております。

腰張りの紙は、現場で角を合わせながら一枚ずつ裁断していきます。壁の寸法も角の具合も場所ごとに異なり、一つとして同じものはありません。

外待合は雨風にさらされる場所です。雨が降ればすぐに剥がれてきてしまうところに、紙を張る。とても贅沢なことだと思います。

Replacing the Koshibari of a Tea Room's Outer Waiting Arbor

We were commissioned to replace the koshibari, the paper lining along the lower walls, of the outer waiting arbor of a tea room.

It has been a while since our last on-site job.
With such opportunities becoming fewer, we are grateful to have been entrusted with this valuable work.

The koshibari paper is cut one sheet at a time on site, matching each corner as we go. The dimensions of the walls and the angles of the corners differ from place to place, and no two are ever the same.

The outer waiting arbor is exposed to wind and rain. To lay paper in a place where it begins to peel as soon as it rains is, I think, a truly luxurious thing.
