Successful treatment of steroid-resistant bronchial asthma with medicinal herbs

Inhaled glucocorticoids have become the mainstay of asthma therapy. Unfortunately, a small fraction of asthmatics areed glucocorticoids. Differential diagnosis was made by systems review of functional abnormalities on 13 patients with bronchial asthma which was resistant to regular inhaled glucocorticoids. Abnormal systems in each patient were treated with medicinal herbs based on the guideline of traditional herbal medicine according to the differential diagnosis. Symptom-free periods after the herb administration were evaluated. All 13 patients were successfully treated and inducted into clinical remission with symptom-free periods of 15-60 months. 11 of 13 patients were inducted into attack-free remission within a month.
