1)そもそも処方箋とは？
処方箋というのは医師が発行してくれるもので、それを調剤薬局に持っていくとお薬を受け取ることのできる法的文書です。
「処方箋」という言葉自体が○○の処方箋、みたいな使われ方もされることがあるので、何か問題を解決してくれる特別な手段みたいな意味合いが流通しているのかも知れません。
2)気をつけたい処方箋の有効期限
通常、処方箋には4日間の有効期限がついてます。処方日も含めて4日間ですから、たとえば金曜日に処方箋を受け取ったとしたら、週が明けて月曜日には調剤薬局に持って行かないと有効期限切れとなり、無効になってしまいます。
無効になったら、処方元の医院が出し直してくれる？と思われるかも知れません。残念ながら処方箋だけ出し直しというのは通例ではなく、改めて受診しなければならなくなると考えていただいて差し支えありません。
なぜなら日数が経つ間に症状が変わっている場合も想定されるためです。ほとんどの医院は、受診の出し直しとなっているようです。
3)処方箋の裏技？
ただし、4日の間に調剤薬局に出向くことができない特別な事情がある場合、医師に申し出て、処方箋に有効期限について特別な有効期限を記載してくれる場合があります。どうしてもという場合には、かかりつけの医師と相談していただくのが良いと思います。
また、仕事や勉強、特別な事情で薬局で待つことができない場合、調剤薬局に事情を説明し、処方箋だけ預けて後日来局し、お薬を受け取るという方法もあります。
4)処方箋を薬局に一度預けてみるのも良い
大きな病院の前の調剤薬局では、多くの薬剤師が働いていますが、
- 取り扱うお薬の多さ
- 一包化調剤をしなければならない処方箋の多さ
- 重篤な症状に対する処方箋の多さ
などから、場合によっては1時間半近く待つことも珍しくありません。そういう場合には、処方箋を一旦薬局に預けて後日取りに行くという方法がお勧めです。
ただしこの場合にも、処方箋の有効期限の4日以内にお薬を取りに来る必要があることを覚えていただきたいです。
5)どの薬局に処方箋を持っていく？
またもう一つ、処方箋をどの薬局に持っていくか？の問題があります。
通常であれば病院前の調剤薬局に持っていくことが多いでしょう。処方元の病院前であれば、その病院から出されているお薬が準備されている事が多いのは確かです。
逆に言うと、大きな病院から処方されるお薬は、病院前の薬局でないと準備がなく、すぐに受け取れないということが起こります。
「このお薬は取り扱いがないので、取り揃えるのに少し時間を頂きたいです」と調剤薬局で言われた経験がある人も多いでしょう。
内科で受け取った処方箋を皮膚科の前の調剤薬局に持って行っても、一般的には薬局には準備がないと考えて頂くのは自然なことです（ただし、応受した薬剤師には何らかの対応が法的に求められています）。
ただし、最近は「かかりつけ薬剤師」を持つ方も多くなってきました。いろいろな病院から出る処方箋を特定の薬剤師に持っていき、一元的に管理してもらうというやり方です。
この場合、お薬の飲み合わせをチェックしてもらう点において多くのメリットがあります。

1) What Exactly Is a Prescription?
A prescription is something issued by a doctor, and when you take it to a dispensing pharmacy, you can receive the prescribed medicines. It is a legal document.
The word “prescription” itself is sometimes used in phrases like “a prescription for XX,” so it may have also come to mean “a special means of solving a problem.”
2) The Expiration Date of Prescriptions
Normally, a prescription is valid for 4 days. Since the prescription date is included, for example, if you receive it on Friday, it must be taken to the pharmacy by Monday, otherwise it expires.
If it expires, will the clinic re-issue the prescription? Unfortunately, it is not standard practice to re-issue only the prescription; you generally have to see the doctor again.
This is because your condition may have changed during that time. In most clinics, you will need a new consultation.
3) Prescription “Tricks”?
However, if there are special circumstances that prevent you from going to a pharmacy within 4 days, you can ask your doctor, and the prescription may be issued with a specially extended validity period. In such cases, it is best to consult your primary doctor.
Also, if you cannot wait at the pharmacy due to work, study, or other special circumstances, you may explain your situation, leave the prescription, and return later to pick up the medicine.
4) Leaving the Prescription at the Pharmacy
Pharmacies in front of large hospitals often employ many pharmacists, but:
- Handling a large variety of medicines
- Many prescriptions requiring one-dose packaging
- Prescriptions for serious conditions
Because of this, it is not unusual to wait up to an hour and a half. In such cases, leaving the prescription at the pharmacy and coming back later is recommended.
However, please remember that even in this case, you must pick up the medicine within the 4-day validity period.
5) Which Pharmacy Should You Go To?
Another point is, which pharmacy should you take your prescription to?
Normally, people go to the pharmacy in front of the hospital. Pharmacies located in front of the prescribing hospital are more likely to have the prescribed medicines in stock.
Conversely, large hospital prescriptions may not be immediately available at other pharmacies, meaning you cannot receive the medicine right away.
Many people have experienced being told, “This medicine is not in stock; it will take some time to prepare.”
For example, if you take an internal medicine prescription to a pharmacy in front of a dermatology clinic, they usually will not have the medicine in stock. (However, pharmacists are legally required to take appropriate action.)
Recently, more people have a “family pharmacist.” This means taking all prescriptions from various hospitals to one pharmacist, who centrally manages them.
This method offers many benefits, such as checking for drug interactions.
